WHAT IS A DENTAL CROWN?
*A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap placed over a tooth
*A crown restores the tooths shape and size
*It also improves the strength and appearance of the tooth
*Crowns cover the entire visible part of the tooth at and above the gum line
 
A crown is a restorative procedure for a damaged tooth. A crown can also be placed if you have a large filling in a tooth.
A broken tooth or after a root canal to strengthen the tooth even further.
 
PROCEDURE
*generally two visits

*1st Visit
-preparing and shaping the tooth
-taking an impression of the tooth
-placing a temporary crown
Time is usually between 30 minutes to an hour
-the impression will then be sent to the lab
-The timeframe can be generally one to two weeks

*2nd visit
-The dentist will cement the crown into place 
-this takes on average 20 to 40 minutes
