Warning: Teeth Grinding On The Rise

Considering everything going on in our world today. It is no surprise that we are experiencing a rise in teeth grinding (Bruxism) which is generally associated with stress and anxiety.

Signs of teeth grinding:

•teeth are worn down

•chipped or broken teeth

•jaw and face pain

•unexplained headaches

•persistent earaches

•interrupted sleep patterns

One issue with teeth grinding is that you may be unaware you are doing it. Most people will grind teeth in their sleep.

What you can do :

•visit your dentist. Your dentist will be able to see teeth grinding symptoms during a dental exam.

•you can be fitted with a custom-made mouth guard. This will help to stop the damage to your oral health

•eat a healthy diet -avoid stimulants before bed such as sugary snacks, coffee, alcohol

•relieve stress by exercising

•have a warm bath before bedtime

•sleep in a dark room

•sleep in a quiet room - turn of the television, radios and cell phones. The goal is to relax and have a calm environment.

Note: While visiting your dentist will help with the oral health consequences of teeth grinding. The root of the problem still exists.

If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health issues (sadness, overwhelmed, stress anxiety, depression etc).
