children and brushing

Jun 29 • 1 minute read

When should I introduce oral hygiene into my child’s daily routine?
The sooner the better beginning at birth parents should clean their children’s gums with the soft infant toothbrush or cloth and water.
Then as the teeth begin to come in , you should start brushing your child’s teeth twice daily using fluoride toothpaste and a soft age-appropriate toothbrush. Use just a pea -size amount of toothpaste  for children under two . Around age 5 and if your  child can spit the toothpaste out and rinse , use a pea sized amount of toothpaste also.
You should offer assistance in toothbrushing until you see that your child has picked up the right way to brush their teeth .
Young children are not able to brush their own teeth effectively and toothpaste should always be spit out never swallowed!
It is a good idea to introduce dental care early.  It is important that children become accustomed to dental care; therefore eliminating possible fears of going to the dentist .
Book an appointment to start your child on a regular oral health routine .
