WHAT IS A SINUS TOOTHACHE ?

A sinus toothache is caused by swelling and mucus buildup in your sinuses. Pressure is put on the nerves of the tooth. A sinus toothache is a symptom of sinusitis.

Typically it is your upper teeth (molars) where the pain occurs. Swelling of the maxillary sinuses is generally what causes a sinus toothache. These are located in the cheek and nose area above your top teeth.

There are situations when an infection in your teeth, cavities or impacted wisdom teeth can cause sinus issues. Therefore, It is best to seek advise from your dentist . Your dentist will need to do a dental checkup . Your dentist will be able to determine what is the cause of your pain by doing an exam of your teeth and gums .

What can you do?
*hydrate ( drink plenty of water)
*rest (best to have head propped up)
*steam (loosens mucous)
*compresses to alleviate discomfort
*pain relievers

It is always advisable to schedule an appointment with your dentist, if you are experiencing any pain or discomfort .
