THE ROOT OF IT !

Anatomy of the tooth

The unseen portion of tooth that supports and keeps the tooth in place in the jawbone
The lower two-thirds of tooth.
The root of teeth are in the bone and they anchor the tooth in position. Roots are covered with a thin layer of bone and are located in sockets.

The root is attached to the tooth-bearing bone—the alveolar processes—of the jaws by a fibrous ligament called the periodontal ligament

The “neck” of the root is embraced by the fleshy gum tissue (a specialized area of connective tissue covered with mucous membrane that lines the mouth cavity). The shape of the crown and root vary among different teeth

General root count (additional roots are known as supernumerary roots)
Canines & Premolars 1 root
Maxillary first premolars 2 roots
Mandibular molars 2 roots
Maxillary molars 3 roots
