How often should you go to the dentist?
This is a very common question?
A common misconception is that you go to the dentist when you have a problem with your teeth.
This can't be further from the truth. Waiting until there is a problem is never a good idea. Dental issues don't get better on their own, they only get worse. It is also financially prudent to prevent dental problems before they start.
Regularly scheduled dental checkups and cleanings are your best defence against having a dental problem.
Visiting your dentist regularly will allow your dentist to see problems that you may not even know you have. Usually, every six months is sufficient.
A comprehensive dental exam which includes X-rays is necessary to prevent minor dental issues from becoming larger problems.
Seeing your hygienist regularly, not only gives you a nice bright smile. It keeps your teeth healthy by removing built-up tartar and plaque from your teeth. Your hygienist will set up a schedule for cleanings that is geared towards your individual needs.
Also, keep in mind that your oral health is closely linked to your physical health. Therefore, you must make your oral health as much a priority as your physical health.
